Due to the complexity of custom designs, I request a minimum of 6 weeks for the design process to be completed and preferably 8-12 weeks. Typically, you would want to begin the process around 2-3 months before you want to mail out the invitations. The time frame for each design can vary depending on the printing method and materials involved. For couture and hand painted invites, I only take on a certain number of commissions per season in order to give my couples my undivided attention, please get in touch with me as early as possible.
Before our consultation, I will need you to find some images of invites you like, or other inspiration images for your wedding using Pinterest, blogs, or magazine clip-outs. We will discuss these ideas and inspirations at length during our complimentary consultation. This is also when I get to know you as a couple, understand your needs, budget and hear what your dream invites are. During this meeting, I will also bring along my samples, colour and paper swatches so we can begin to visualize the perfect invite.
After a week of our initial consultation, I will email you a detailed sketch of your invite proposal along with notes of printing methods, materials/paper and costs break down. As soon as we agree on a general “design direction,” the contract is signed, and a deposit is made, I will go full force on your project!
This is when we fine tune the design and wording to get your invites just right. If possible, I will make a physical mockup for you to review before we send the design to the printer.
After I get the official sign off from you and receive the remaining balance, I send the design off to the printer or letterpress studio. The wait is almost over! As soon as I receive the finish printed pieces, my team will start assembling the invites for you and get them into your hands as soon as we can. We can even address and mail out the invites for you if you need, so the whole process can be stress free and you can focus on the fun parts of wedding planning.
